TIMOTHY GRIECO - ARTIST BIOGRAPHY

Timothy Grieco is a Canadian visual artist based in Edmonton, Alberta. A graduate of the University of Alberta’s Bachelor of Fine Arts program in printmaking (2010), TImothy began his career specializing in copper plate etching, developing a distinctive approach rooted in process, repetition, and symbolic visual language. His early work often referenced religious texts and internal psychological landscapes, blending intaglio methods with layered, textured surfaces.

Following a residency with the Society of Northern Alberta Print Artists, Timothy’s practice expanded into painting and mixed media. Over the past decade, he has transitioned away from traditional printmaking to develop a highly textured, sculptural painting style using acrylics and repurposed industrial materials such as plastic netting and packaging. These elements now form a signature component of his practice, reflecting a sustained interest in material permanence, environmental impact, and the interplay between organic and synthetic systems.

Timothy’s work has been widely exhibited, including a major 2021 presentation in Edmonton’s Brighton Block as part of Artists in the Fallow, where he showcased over 60 works spanning painting, relief, and drawing. Earlier exhibitions such as Urban Harvest (2020) highlighted his innovative use of discarded consumer materials and helped catalyze a shift toward larger-scale, immersive pieces.

Through continuous experimentation, Timothy has cultivated a unique visual language anchored in pattern, repetition, and circular motifs that reference biological, cosmic, and psychological systems. His current studio focus is the refinement of this language into a cohesive body of work that consolidates years of thematic and material research.
